DarXs
Ruohan Xiong · a craftsman who codes
Based in Shanghai. Piano for joy, creations for a living, tinkering without end.
I like turning repetitive work into systems, and building little things for no reason at all — the former lives in Cases, the latter in the Lab, and the tinkering gets written up on the Blog.
The name
DarXs was coined when I was young. It started as Dr.Xiong — the "Dr." being a joke, since I'm neither a doctor nor a PhD. That shrank to DX, then unfolded intodare to face the Xs — X as in algebra, the unknowns. Read it as a motto: face the unknown. And dx happens to be the differential symbol in calculus — which is how this site came to be called DarXs Differential.
残星 (cán xīng, "the fading stars") is the pen name I took once I'd started working. DarXs already sounds like Dark Stars; and my given name 若晗 carries the character 晗 — the sky at first light, the rising sun. 残星 are the stars thinning out just before sunrise. So when I say "I am 残星", what it really means is: the sun is about to come up.
That changing line at the bottom of the homepage? It's what this star is doing right now.
Piano
When I'm not coding, I'm at the piano. In the Lab there's a toy called Play-Piano — that's the piano and the code colliding.
